Inaugural Meeting

The first North Huron Transition Committee meeting was held Monday, June 13, 2011 at Wingham Public School. The committee is made up of representatives from the schools communities of Blyth, East Wawanosh, Wingham, and Turnberry Public Schools. Alice McDowell, currently the Principal at Blyth Public School will chair the Transition process and when the first stage of the transition begins in September 2012, she will be the Principal of the new North Huron School. The committee voted to recommend to the Board that the new school be named Maitland River Elementary School. The Board approved that recommendation at its regular meeting on June 28, 2011.

Meet the Principal Designate for Maitland River Elementary

Veteran Principal Alice McDowell has been appointed as Principal of the new school and leader for the transition process. Alice is splitting her duties this year between being Principal at Blyth Public School and heading up the Mailtland River Transition Committee.
