In June 2010, the Board voted to consolidate the K-6 students from Usborne Central PS and Exeter PS at the Exeter PS site in September 2012, to consolidate the K-6 students from Zurich PS and Hensall PS at the Hensall PS site in September 2012, to relocate the students residing in Huron Park from Exeter PS to Stephen Central PS. In addition the grade 7 & 8 students from these schools will be moving to a section of South Huron District High School.

At the Bluewater-South Huron Transition Committee's first meeting held on June 22, 2011 at South Huron District High School, the Zurich-Hensall Sub-committee met to discuss the possibility of a name change for the new consolidated school. Zurich Public School Principal Betty Beer-Vanrooy explains in this video the process their committee went through in recommending a new name for the school.

At its regular meeting on June 28, 2011 the Board approved the decommissioning the names of Zurich Public School, Hensall Public School and named the newly configured elementary school in Hensall Bluewater Coast Elementary School, effective September 1, 2012.
