Background
Board Meeting - September 13, 2011
In April 2011 some facilities concerns related to Colborne Central P.S. were identified and subsequently a full building review was undertaken. A July 28, 2011 report to the Board outlines necessary rehabilitation to Colborne Central P.S. which, if not addressed immediately, would result in an unsafe environment for students and staff. The cost of the rehabilitation work is estimated to be $1,095,500.00.
Additionally, as is the normal course with the five year cycle of Formal Facilities Review (Building Condition Assessment) reports, all work which the Board will have to address now or in the future at Colborne Central P.S. was identified and costed. The identified building costs for work not related to the humidity/water penetration issue total $966,400.00.
Students and staff of Colborne Central P.S. have been relocated to the former Victoria P.S. site in Goderich for the 2011-2012 school year to ensure a positive learning environment while options regarding the accommodation of students in this area are considered.
As declining enrolment continues to impact on AMDSB schools, staff analyzed the Northwest Huron region to bring the numbers into perspective in presenting the 2011-2012 Preliminary Accommodation Review. Select this link to view the 11-09-13 Preliminary Accommodation Review
