Official School Year Calendar for 2011-2012
The school year commences Thursday, September 1, 2011 with a Professional Activity Day and ends on Friday, June 29, 2012 with a Professional Activity Day. Instructional classes commence on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 and end on Thursday, June 28, 2012. (Labour Day September, 5, 2011). Christmas Break commences Monday, December 26, 2011 and concludes Friday, January 6, 2012. Classes resume Monday, January 9, 2012. March Break commences on Friday, March 9 and concludes on Friday, March 16, 2012.
Secondary Schools will have an examination schedule of four examination days semester one and six examination days semester two or five examination days each semester.
The Board approved the 2011/2012 Elementary and Secondary School Year Calendars at its meeting of February 22, 2011 based upon the modified calendar presented in January to the general public for feedback. Superintendent of Education Kim Black reported that the response to the call for public feedback was high and an overwhelming majority were in favour of the modified calendar as presented.
