Students from Stratford and Blyth Capture Gauss Math Awards
Sarah Frier of Stratford Central Public School won top honours in Grade 7 in the 2010 Gauss Math Competition while Alex Peters of Blyth Public School took the title for Grade 8 students.
550 Avon Maitland grade 7 and 8 students wrote the challenging Gauss math contest. The contest is prepared by the University of Waterloo Mathematics department and is written by students the world over.
Sarah Frier from Stratford Central Public School scored highest in grade 7 in the Avon Maitland District School Board, with a score of 134 out of 150. Sarah was awarded a graphing TI-84 calculator. Here are the some of the questions Sarah was able to answer - can you?
